What "fitment" means, and why a CV misses most of it

A CV tells you where someone worked. It says little about whether they will do well in your role, on your team.

Recruiters in India use the word fitment every day, usually about salary. We use it more broadly: how well a person matches the role, the team and the way a company works.

What a CV shows

A CV is a list of employers, titles and tools. It is good evidence of exposure. It is weak evidence of skill, and no evidence at all of how someone behaves when a project slips or a manager disagrees with them.

The three things we check

  • Skill. Can they do the work at the level this role needs? We test it; we do not infer it from a title.
  • Problem-solving. How do they think through a real situation from your business?
  • Team. Do they suit the pace, structure and values of the people they will sit with?

Why we write it down

Every candidate we send comes with a short fitment note that gives our reasons. If we cannot write a convincing note, the candidate does not go on the shortlist. It keeps us honest, and it gives you something to challenge before you spend an hour in an interview.
